Pairi Daiza

The "Jardin des Mondes"

As the main tourist attraction in Belgium and voted "Best zoo in Europe", Pairi Daiza allows you to travel through the five continents and get to know more than 7,000 animals. Pairi Dazia also received three stars in the Green Michelin Guide. You cross the path of walking elephants, you can feed countless animals, you come face to face with leopards, lions, gorillas, pandas, white tigers, orangutan, etc.

Tickets & reservations

The tourist train runs every Sunday and holidays from April to September on a 4 km route through the Rebecquoise countryside along the Senne and the Vallée des Oiseaux. The activity lasts about 1h40.

INFORMATIONS

Converted into a cultural and tourist centre, the Moulins des ducs d'Arenberg were built at the end of the 14th century on the banks of the Senne.

The Grand Moulin today includes the impressive machinery operated by a impeller with a diameter of 7.50 m.

The Petit Moulin is home to the Maison de la Bière which was completely refurbished and modernized in 2020. At the end of the visit, the tasting of a barrel beer is offered at the Tavern of Arenberg, located close to the museum.

The Quenast quarry, in Rebecq

The Quenast quarry is the largest open pit quarry in Europe with an area of 140 hectares and in places a depth of 125 meters.

Porphyry, a 435 million-year-old cooled magma, has been extracted here since the 17th century. This rock is very hard and was traditionally used to make the famous Belgian cobblestones. At present, porphyry is intended for ballast and crushed. Do you know "cayoteux"? This is the name given to the quarry workers.

Of Iron and Fire

Discover the life of a medieval war camp, with its tents, weapons and armor, the soldier and ribaudes, the first weekend of August.

In a green setting, you can enjoy period drinks, bargain with artisans, visit the camp, watch artillery fire and fighting, shoot bow or throw axes or try armor.

Located in Bierghes (Rebecq), in the Senne valley, the Gueuserie Tilquin is the only gueuserie in Wallonia.  Sale to individuals, every Saturday from 10h30 to 13h.

Located in Quenast, Brasserie Lefebvre was created in 1876. This family brewery offers a wide range of special and unfiltered beers: Blanche de Bruxelles, Hopus, Barbãr, Floreffe, Dikkenek …

Local producer in Rebecq, the distillery Apé Reiff, offers aperitif or dessert wines, without artificial flavors.  The vinification is done by traditional method of fermentation of fruit juice (different from grapes).

Domaine W, located not far from the hostellerie, is a vineyard producing a range of organic wines. Do not wait to discover it!

Sint-Renelde Processsion

Classified as intangible heritage of the French Community, the Tour Sainte-Renelde is a procession of riders honouring the patron saint of the village of Saintes! 
It takes place every year on Trinity Sunday.

Halle

Hal, a commune located a few km from Rebecq is known as a Marian city that means a place of pilgrimage. Every two years, on Pentecost Sunday, the procession that venerates the Black Virgin is organized there.

Its wood is world famous for its beautiful purple carpet during the flowering of wild hyacinths that bloom mid-April. A visit of this wood in any season is worth the detour !

Rose Garden Coloma

Walk through huge rose gardens.

The 15 ha estate of Coloma is located in the heart of Sint-Pieters-Leeuw. Admire more than 3,000 varieties of roses from around the world. The garden was arranged in four phases: the red and white garden, the Flemish garden, the old rose garden and finally the international garden.
